Do your eyes water & smart when you are chopping onions?
Here’s a way of chopping them with out all that fuss.
Place your onions in a bowl of cold water (I fill a clean washing up bowl), place the onions in the water leave foe a minutes or so, slice/chop it in half along the middle (not down through the stem). Cut it into 1/4 cuttong around the stem, take off the skin with the 1st top layer of the onion, placing the remaining oinion on a chopping board.
Hey presto no more tears. 🙂
